Lawmaker takes 9/11 doubts global

In a September 2003 article for The Guardian newspaper, Michael Meacher, who served as Tony Blair's environment minister from May 1997 to June 2003, shocked the establishment by calling the global war on terrorism "bogus." Even more controversially, he implied that the U.S. government either allowed 9/11 to happen, or played some role in the destruction wrought that day. Besides Meacher, few politicians have publicly questioned America's official 9/11 narrative — until Diet member Yukihisa Fujita.

Fujita, along with a growing number of individuals — including European and American politicians — are leading a charge to conduct a thorough, independent investigation of what happened on Sept. 11, 2001.

"Three or four years ago I saw some Internet videos like 'Loose Change' and '911 In Plane Site' and I began to ask questions," Fujita said in an interview, "but I still couldn't believe this was done by anyone but al-Qaida.

"Last year I watched more videos and read books written by professor David Ray Griffin (a professor emeritus of philosophy of religion and theology at Claremont Graduate University who wrote the most famous Truth Movement book, 'The New Pearl Harbor') about things such as the collapse of World Trade Center No. 7. This building, which was never hit by an airplane, collapsed straight down. Between the videos showing the way it fell, and the numerous reports of explosions, many are convinced that this building was demolished."

Dear fellow peace activists,

From June 13 to October 17, 2008, I'll be touring the country, speaking in about 120 different cities. I’ll be speaking on Central Square in Keene at 6:30 pm. on July 3, 2008. I'd appreciate very much if your organizations could co-sponsor my talk.

Because some of you may not know me, I'd like to explain who I am and what I'm trying to do. My bio gives details of my military career and education to establish credibility, but it doesn't mention my work for peace.

I've been an anti-nuke anti-war activist for 26 years. In the early 80s I worked closely with Sen. Claiborne Pell, Sen. Mark Hatfield, Sen. Ted Kennedy, and others to prevent an arms race in space, end nuclear testing, end anti-satellite weapons testing, and prevent nuclear war. I have given about 7,000 speeches around the country against Reagan's "Star Wars", against Bush One's first Gulf War, against Clinton's rape of Kosovo, and against practically everything Shrub does. My support has always come from Catholic Workers, Quakers, Unitarians, Veterans for Peace, WILPF, Peace Action, etc. The overall goals of the Patriot Tour (get a government that will follow the Constitution, honor the truth, and serve the people) are designed to make conservatives feel welcome. (Many of them are just as unhappy about things as we are.) But the immediate goals are to end the occupation of Iraq and prevent an attack on Iran. The only way I can see that happening soon (I'm not willing to wait until 2009 for another president) is with the simultaneous impeachment of Cheney and Bush, and I call for that loud and clear. I'm probably one of the most radical progressive populist liberals there is. But I don't think the left can succeed by itself. That's why I'm recruiting honest conservatives to our cause. They understand that this administration is anything but conservative. Real conservative Republicans like Bob Taft stood for fiscal responsibility, avoidance of foreign military entanglements, and protection of our individual rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Is it any wonder these folks can't stand Bush? We can make common cause with real conservatives (not the Bushie big-money imperialist fascist neo-conservatives now in charge of our government). The article "The Patriots" (attached) is designed to emphasize our common ground with real conservatives and to recruit them to our cause. I am having considerable success around the country bringing left and right together to "Take Back America."

One of the ways we are bringing folks together is through the 9/11 Truth movement. It includes folks from all across the political spectrum who love their country but fear their government. I am not a "conspiracy theorist," because I don't claim to have a theory about how 9/11 happened. But like about 80% of the American people, I don't think we have been told the truth. 9/11 has been exploited by Cheney and company to get us into unnecessary and illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, to take away our freedoms through the misnamed "Patriot Act," and to involve us in a phony but seemingly endless "War on Terror." We are succeeding in getting the 9/11 Truth movement to oppose the results of the 9/11 tragedy as much as the act itself. For all these reasons, I am asking you to work with folks in the 9/11 Truth movement to jointly put on my speaking event. I have not met all of them, but those in the movement I have met are mostly patriotic anti-war activists, not nutcases as the corporate media portrays them. (Sure there are a few pretty strange folks involved, but that's true of the peace movement as well.) :) So give them a chance. You don't have to agree with them on 9/11, just work with them on our common goals.

The thrust of my talk is to end the occupation of Iraq, prevent an attack on Iran, and impeach Cheney and Bush for deceiving us into war.

The bottom line is that I'd like you to give me a chance. The Los Angeles Times called me "probably the best public speaker in the country today" I think that was a bit of an ex-aggeration in the 1980s, but I'm a lot better now than I was then. In any event, I guaran-tee you won't be disappointed! Thanks!

The New England 9/11 Symposium, held this past Saturday (5/17/08) in Keene, NH, was a tremendous success. We had a great turn out and received local and, of course, independent media coverage.

First, the morning began at 9:45 a.m. with Bob McIlvaine's heartfelt speech, which is a reminder that, as Jon Gold put it, what we feel is nothing compared to what family members like McIlvaine feel. The part of his remarks that stuck out to me the most was when McIlvaine detailed his experiences researching 9/11 on his own and described his utter disgust with the 9/11 Commission. While speaking about the Commission he mentioned the day that Condoleeza Rice testified about the August 6th, 2001 PDB. To him it was obvious that Rice was spinning, lying, and not directly answering any questions posed to her by the Commissioners, who's questions were light as it was. He talked of how outraged he was when, after Rice testified, family members were rushing to shake her hand. The deception was so blatant how could the others not see it? I, as well as many others, believe that Bob is very strong and very brave.

"The Commission" by Philip Shenon has performed a great public service, letting the world know that there are good reasons to be suspicious of "The 9/11 Commission Report." The main problem is the fact that the Commission was almost entirely under the control of Philip Zelikow, who was closely connected to the Bush White House. Although my book "Christian Faith and the Truth behind 9/11" revealed some of the facts about Zelikow that showed him to be one of the worst possible choices for the Commission's executive director, Shenon has revealed even more facts.

It was already known that Zelikow had been on the National Security Council (NSC) with Condoleezza Rice during the administration of the first President Bush; that he wrote a book with her while the Republicans were out of power; that he helped her make the transition from the Clinton to the Bush NSC; and that he wrote at her request the 2002 version of "National Security Strategy of the United States of America" (NSS 2002), which enunciated a new doctrine of preemptive war that was used, in Shenon's words, to "justify a preemptive strike on Iraq."

But now Shenon reveals more: that in applying to Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, the co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission, for the position of executive director, Zelikow failed to reveal some of his conflicts of interest, especially his authorship of NSS 2002 and his role on the transition team; that he continued, contrary to his promise, to be in touch with Karl Rove (who was very concerned about the Commission's work), as well as Rice; that Zelikow largely prevented direct contact between the staff and the Commissioners ("If information gathered by the staff was to be passed to the commissioners, it would have to go through Zelikow"); and that Zelikow largely "controlled what the final report would say."

Monadnock 9/11 Truth Alliance Essay Contest Winner Received $ 500 Prize

On December 4, 2007, the Monadnock 9/11 Truth Alliance awarded a $ 500 Prize to Richard Bennett of Winchester, the winner of our Essay Contest Why the Towers Collapsed. Michael Turino of Hancock received an Honorable Mention. Altogether, about a dozen submissions were received.

Richard Bennett is an embedded software engineer living in Winchester, NH, with his wife and five children. One of his sons is serving in the U.S. Navy. Richard spent ten years in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

The contest, announced in New Hampshire newspapers early September, had as its submission deadline November 1. Entrants were encouraged to consider both the official theory of gravitational collapse and alternate theories advanced by 9/11 critics. The Essay Contest Committee included John Wyndham, physicist, Jack Meagher, engineer, and Gerhard Bedding, science writer and teacher.

The Monadnock 9/11 Truth Alliance exists to advance the search for truth with respect to the horrific events that took place on that day. The Alliance's essay contest on the destruction of the WTC towers fits into this framework. In awarding a prize, the value of the scientific facts and arguments presented in the winning essay are recognized. However, the Alliance does NOT imply that the winning essay contains THE TRUTH, nor does it endorse all the evidence, calculations, and reasoning presented. In short, the winning essay is considered to be a valuable contribution toward finding the truth.

In reaching their decision, the Contest Committee took the following into account:
. Focus on the subject and degree of organization
. Depth of presentation, including graphics
. Presence of little known facts or new evidence for research
. Calculations
. Discussion of both the gravitational collapse and demolition theories
. Conclusions drawn from the evidence

On all these counts, the 19-page submission by Richard Bennett stood out clearly as the winner.

An Open Letter to the Progressive Left

During this primary season, many advocates for a new investigation into the events surrounding 9/11 have been greeted with a tremendous amount of hostility. The thing is, most of this hostility has not been from “right-wingers,” but mostly from members of the so called progressive left. As registered Democrats, we personally, have been told that we are an “embarrassment to the party,” and called names that we will not repeat. Why has the left shown so much hostility towards advocates of 9/11 truth and justice?

As of January, 2007, the Bush Administration had been caught telling 935 lies. No folks, we didn’t say mistakes, they told 935 LIES. The most audacious lies being the administration’s manipulation of intelligence used to get us into war with Iraq. These lies have, as of today, claimed a total of 3,975 in Iraq alone. The U.S. led occupation in Iraq has also claimed close to 90,000 Iraqi civilian lives. All of this death and destruction has been due bold-faced lies told by the Bush Administration.

What was just outlined in the paragraph above is not disputed by members of the progressive left or even by their beloved candidates, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). Why then, after this criminal administration has been caught in 935 lies, some of which have led to close to 100,000 deaths, is this administration given a free pass by the left when it comes to 9/11? While we don’t agree with labeling the ideas advanced by the 9/11 Truth Movement as conspiracy theories, let us, for the sake of the argument discuss the idea of conspiracy theories involving the Bush Administration. Please also remember, a conspiracy is, by definition, “an agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.” Therefore, when the progressive left asserts that the President and his administration knowingly manipulated intelligence in order to lead our nation to war in Iraq, they are advancing what can be defined as a conspiracy theory. Is the left only interested in advancing conspiracy theories that are popular and accepted by the rest of their constituents?

Additionally, the Bush Administration fought very hard to stifle any inquiry into 9/11. If 9/11 was a major government failure, as is maintained by proponents of the official account, then wouldn’t the president and vice president want to know everything about that failure and reprimand or fire those responsible? Instead, we’ve seen two inquiries, one led by the Congress and one by the 9/11 Commission. Both of these inquiries were given limited access to information, and in the case of the 9/11 Commission, led by a White House insider. Even if the official version of events is true, how is this acceptable? Don’t the family members of the victims of 9/11 deserve to have answers as to why their loved ones are no longer with us? Don’t we, as Americans, deserve to know?

In conclusion, we implore the progressive left to support the millions of concerned citizens across the United States who are advocating for an independent inquiry into 9/11. Advocating for a real investigation into 9/11 is not subscribing to conspiracy theories. It’s subscribing to the idea of truth, accountability, and justice. What’s so bad about that? Remember, these people are proven liars, their lies have led to the deaths of thousands of people. Why should 9/11 be treated any differently?

The 9-11 Citizens Commission and other Conferences

The 9-11 Citizens Commission was held in New York on September 9, 2004. This was a meeting by a group of United States citizens who were skeptical of the findings of the 9/11 Commission Report, and who purported to launch their own investigation into the attacks.

The event was billed as being modeled after the United States Congressional hearings which were conducted by the 9/11 Commission. A group of citizens heard testimony provided by witnesses, authors, experts and whistle blowers. The witnesses gave their testimony after having been sworn in, and were then questioned by the citizen panel. An audience and representatives from the press were also present.

Panelists included Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, local Imam Dr. Faiz Khan, and Bob McIlvaine, father of one of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. Other participants included Barry Zelman (who lost his brother in the attack), Mindy Kleinberg, Barrie Zwicker, Paul Thompson, former Diplomat Michael Springmann, Michael Ruppert and former blink-182 guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge.

9/11 Debate held at EU Parliament

[This long overdue meeting was organized by Italian EU Parliament member, Eurodéputé Giulietto Chiesa with the agenda to view a recently released movie, "Zero inquires over September 11" with debate to follow. That debate included David Ray Griffin among others. This meeting was closed to the public; only media and government officials were allowed in.

Last night a report was posted by Eric Beeth, MD Assistant Professor, General Practice Medicine, Vrije Universiteit, Brussels. He was in attendance at the debate.

In the first picture you see Yukihisa Fujita, an MP in the Japanese Parliament that recently called for a new investigation. Just a few weeks ago he stood on the Japanese Parliament floor for 30 minutes questioning government officials about events on that day; one of the first international government officials to speak up in a large public forum. --Franco]
